"I finished that gown over half a year ago and I've worn it only one time so far. Well, rococo will never be my favourite period and it is perhaps the brightest dress I own at the time.
Look at it carefully, perhaps you won't never see my in any coloured clothes again (it just doesn't feel right for me, I was quite uncomfortable in that dress)
The Polonaise itself is made of violet cotton fabric with tiny stripes in darker violet and a grey that matches the skirt.
Underneath I wear the ususal underpinnings for that period: chemise, stays (the black ones in my gallery), a pillow for the right shape of the skirt, pockets and two underskirts.
I made the headdress the night before I needed the complete gown. It's quite a quick and dirty project because I had no chance of getting a stray bergere so fast
Well, what else to say ... the skirts were made without any pattern, the polonaise is taken from "Patterns of Fashion", the fichu is just a plain cotton scarf I already had, I bought it to dye it originally ...
This style of dress was quite fashionable around 1770-80 (correct me if I'm wrong ... as I said before, not quite my period )"
