Guidelines

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 4, 2006, 2:10 PM
Our awesome members:

Clubs we're affiliated with:

Membership Guidelines:

:bulletblue:Anyone may apply to join the Historic Costume Club. While our members are mainly costumers, people wishing to join do not need to be.

:bulletblue: In order to join, please send a short note explaining why. Notes are the easiest to keep track of, membership requests left in the devious thoughts section can sometimes get lost in the shuffle.

:bulletblue:The Historic Costume Club is meant as a venue for people interested in historic costuming, historic clothing, and recreating history to share ideas, experiences, and collective knowledge.

:bulletblue:Members are encouraged but not expected to contribute the gallery, forums, journals and polls.

Submission Guidelines:

:bulletblue:Any member may submit work for consideration as a gallery addition.

:bulletblue:Submissions sent without a description WILL NOT be added to the gallery.
:bulletpurple:Descriptions should include information such as:
:bulletred:Design inspiration (patterns or source material used)
:bulletred:Fabrics/materials used
:bulletred:Era of the design (i.e. 13th century, 1510s, 1770-80, 1806, Medieval, Baroque, Edwardian, etc.)
:bulletred:Country or region of origin
:bulletred:Links to any foundation garments or accessories, if applicable

:bulletblue:Foundation garments or accessories will not be added to the gallery on their own. They will gladly be added to the scraps section, or linked to as a part of the deviation featuring the garment they are a part of.

:bulletblue:Movie reproduction costumes will not be accepted even if the source is a “costume drama,” costumes inspired by films will be accepted if they meet the following criteria:
:bulletpurple:A movie inspired costume may share the same tailoring lines, and styles of embellishment as the original.
:bulletpurple:A movie inspired costume should not be recognizable as “so and so’s costume from such and such a movie.”

:bulletblue:Clothing that is made from period sources, but does not resemble garments contemporary to that period will be accepted, but featured in scraps section.

How to submit a deviation to the gallery:

:bulletblue: Send a note to *HistoricCostume.
:bulletpurple: Include a link to the original deviation.
:bulletpurple: Include as much information specified in the submission guidelines as possible and other relevent information.
:bulletpurple: HCC will take care of teh rest as soon as possible.

Wanna join? Send a quick note and tell us why.
